Essential Services

The practice provides management of care to all our patients who are ill or believe themselves to be ill, with conditions from which recovery is generally expected. We offer care for the duration of that condition – including relevant health promotion advice and referral as appropriate – reflecting patient choice wherever practicable.

The practice also provides management of care to those patients who suffer from a chronic disease, in consultation with the patient. This will also include the care and management of stroke or transient ischaemic attack, cancer care, hypothyroidism, mental health and epilepsy.

Specialised Clinical Services

The practice believes that prevention is better than cure and is pleased to offer a wide range of health promotion clinics tailored to meet our patient’s needs. You can book an appointment for these clinics by visiting the Consulting Room.

Contraception

Full contraceptive services are available which include giving advice about emergency contraception and where appropriate, the supplying or prescribing of emergency contraception.

Minor Surgery

Both doctors are qualified to perform minor surgical procedures in a fully equipped room.

Asthma Clinic

Review and monitoring is offered to those patients who suffer from asthma. The clinic supports patients in the management of their condition.

If you have been advised by the surgery to submit an annual review of your asthma symptoms, your symptoms are deteriorating or you are having any concerns please complete the Asthma Review form.

Blood Pressure Monitoring

If you have been advised by the surgery to submit your blood pressure readings on a regular basis, please complete the Blood Pressure Review form.

Baby Vaccination and Immunisation

These clinics provide valuable inoculation against disease to babies and children under the age of five.

COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) Clinic

Provides support to patients who suffer respiratory problems such as chronic bronchitis and emphysema. The clinic provides patients with regular reviews of their condition, measurement of respiratory flow, smoking advice and an assessment of treatment.

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) & Thyroid Monitoring

The surgery offers reviews and monitoring, support will be given where required.

If you have been advised by the surgery to submit a hypothyroid assessment, please complete the Hypothyroid Self Assessment form.

Diabetes Clinic

Review and monitoring is offered for those patients who suffer from diabetes, both insulin and non-insulin dependant. The clinic supports patients in the management of their condition together with advice on lifestyle, diet, weight and glucose testing.

Epilepsy

The practice offers reviews and monitoring on an annual basis with the doctor.

Flu and Pneumonia Vaccinations

Flu vaccination is recommended for patients aged 65 and over or those who suffer with a chronic disease including diabetes, heart, kidney or liver problems, or those who are immuno-suppressed, have sickle cell disease or absent spleen. Clinics run from October onwards.

Pneumonia vaccination is recommended for patients aged 80 years and over or those with a chronic disease. The vaccine can be given at any time of year and is effective for at least six years.

Hypertension and CHD (Coronary Heart Disease) Clinics

Support for those patients who suffer with high blood pressure and heart problems. These clinics provide support to patients in the management of their condition, regular monitoring and testing, advice on diet and healthy lifestyle.

Leg Ulcer Clinic

This service has now been taken over by Livewell Southwest. Our practice nurses will refer you where appropriate.

Smoking Cessation

The practice offers an in-house smoke stop clinic where support is given on a one to one basis. We can also refer patients to locally provided smoke stop group sessions and support.

Travel Clinic

The practice nurse can advise on vaccination requirements for patients travelling abroad and give vaccinations as required. In order that your vaccinations have time to take effect before your holiday it is important to arrange to have them at least two months before you travel.

Foreign Travel

The practice nurse provides comprehensive advice about overseas travel and vaccination. A charge is made for non-NHS injections (Fees for non-NHS services can be found here: Fees for Non-NHS Services). Please ensure you arrange to have your travel vaccinations at least 4 weeks prior to travel.

Travel Risk Assessment

If you are travelling abroad please make sure you contact us in plenty of time to arrange any vaccinations that may be necessary. To help the travel nurses assess your travel needs it is important that they are in receipt of the Travel Risk Assessment form before your appointment.
